CAD & FILES

Files for Jewelry Development

Send the current design file with units, dimensions, material and stone requirements, plus a drawing or image that identifies the critical features.

STEP, STL and drawings serve different jobs

STEP can carry solid or surface geometry. STL describes a triangulated mesh and may lack units or editable feature history. A drawing can show dimensions, tolerances and finishes that are not explicit in a model. Include the revision and any known export settings.

Make scale and stone fit explicit

State millimeters or the intended unit and list critical measurements. Include actual stone length, width and depth, calibrated melee sizes and setting construction. A carat value does not define the envelope that fits into a seat.

Use images to clarify intent

A clear front, side or wearing image can communicate proportions. Label whether it is the same sample, a desired detail or a general design direction. Do not combine unrelated photos as if they were verified angles of one product.

Share sensitive files deliberately

Start with a non-confidential outline if an NDA is required. Flag the agreement request before sending proprietary files. File receipt and confidentiality handling do not automatically settle ownership, exclusivity or production rights.

What to include in your brief

Your questions, answered

Can I send STL if I do not have STEP?

Yes. Mesh closure, scale, resolution and suitability for the manufacturing route need review.

What if I only have a sketch?

Send dimensions, desired details and intended use. The project can be reviewed as design development rather than ready-to-make OEM.
