SAMPLING

Reviewing Your Sample

Approve a jewelry sample against a written specification and revision record, recording any corrections before the agreed production stage begins.

Agree what the sample must prove

Define whether the sample reviews appearance, fit, mechanism, setting, finish, materials or all of these. A resin model can check shape but cannot prove the surface or wear performance of a finished metal piece. The sample quotation should describe the intended review.

Keep an approval checklist

Record the CAD revision, stone sizes, alloy, critical dimensions, finish and logo position. For a clasp or wearable object, include the fit or movement requirement. Decide which measurements and photographs are needed for approval.

Separate corrections from a new design

List the differences between the sample and the agreed specification. If the client changes the direction, record the revised scope, cost and schedule instead of treating it as an unnoticed adjustment.

Confirm production after approval

Client approval, quantity, packaging and inspection criteria form the production confirmation. Keep the approved sample reference for repeat orders. No fixed sample or manufacturing lead time applies to every design.

What to include in your brief

Your questions, answered

Can we approve from photographs?

Decide whether photos and measurements are sufficient for the intended review. Critical fit or mechanism requirements may need physical assessment.

Does sample pricing include production?

The proposal should identify sample scope and production pricing separately; do not assume that one includes the other.
